The 7th week of the SLC Major League Tournament 2022 began today (30th September), as 12 new matches kicked off as usual.
The opening day of most of the seventh-week games were cut short due to inclement weather. Despite wet conditions, several bowlers ended with brilliant numbers as there were four performances with hauls of more than five wickets.
Defending champions, CCC hosting BRC today were 5 wickets down for 116 runs after bowling out the visitors for 153. Skipper Ashan Priyanjan claimed the second-best figures-in-an-innings of the tournament. His performance (8/51) currently sits in between the performances of team-mates Sonal Dinusha (8/67) and Malinda Pushpakumara (8/27).
SSC playing against Ragama CC were 220 for 5 at the close of play with young batter Nuwanidu Fernando unbeaten on 126.

In Group B, another couple of unbeaten tons were recorded while former Royal skipper Ahan Wickramasinghe’s maiden first-class century stood out. NCC batting out all 91 overs of the day against Saracens SC were on 333 for 7 at the close of play.
Panadura SC’s Raminda Wijesooriya scored the third ton of the day as he helped his team finish the opening day on 259 for 6 against Nugegoda S & WC.
Young orthodox spinners Dilum Sudeera (Tamil Union C & AC) and Lasith Lakshan (Chilaw Marians CC) recorded figures of 6/71 and 5/57 in their game at the R. Premadasa Stadium while veteran spinner Gayan Sirisoma recorded his 66th 5-wicket haul for Air Force SC against Ace Capital CC.
