Five matches of the 10th week of the SLC Major League Tournament ended today (24th October), with only two of them producing results, as three encounters were abandoned due to rain.
The encounter between Navy Sports Club and Ace Capital Cricket Club ended in a draw today at Katunayake. The Pakistan left-arm spinner Mohammad Irfan’s brilliant spell with the ball (6/83) was the highlight of the drawn encounter.
In addition to Irfan, Sahan Kosala, Adeesha Nanayakkara and Savin Gunasekara of Navy Sports Club, and Ninad Kadam and Pramud Hettiwatte of Ace Capital Cricket Club came up with impressive performances with the bat.
The encounter between Badureliya Cricket Club and Air Force Sports Club also ended in a draw today at Maggona. Badureliya CC Skipper Alankara Asanka starred with the bat, scoring a brisk half-century for his club, but they were restricted to just 188 runs thanks to the excellent bowling effort by the spin duo Gayan Sirisoma and Movin Subasingha who shared 9 wickets between them.
In reply, the Air Force batters also struggled with the bat as they made only 71 runs for 5 wickets at stumps on the final day. The in-form left-arm spinner Chalana De Silva picked up 3 wickets for 36 runs.
