Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club continued their domination over Colombo Cricket Club on day two of the Final of SLC Major League Tournament, played today (18th November) at SSC Grounds in Colombo.
Tamil Union C & AC resumed their first innings on day two at 356/5, with the overnight batters Ravindu Fernando (14*) and Dilum Sudeera (10*) remaining at the crease. The duo added a 65-run partnership for the 6th wicket before Fernando was dismissed after scoring an aggressive 45 runs off 50 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Former Sri Lankan all-rounder Isuru Udana, who came to bat at No. 8, played a blistering knock, keeping Tamil Union well ahead in the contest. Udana struck 88 runs off 72 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 122.22, as Tamil Union posted a mammoth score of 558 runs on the board for their first innings.
National capped left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando and chinaman bowler Lakshan Sandakan were the star performers with the ball for CCC, as they picked up 4 wickets each.
The opening pair Nimesha Gunasinghe and Sonal Dinusha began CCC’s reply with the bat, but their stay at the crease lasted only 18 balls as the latter was plumbed in front by the speedster Shiran Fernando for just 4 runs.
However, CCC No. 3 batter Minod Bhanuka rescued the innings, building two 50+ partnerships with Gunasingha and Kamindu Mendis for the 2nd and 3rd wickets respectively as they ended the second day’s play with some pride at 149/2.

Bhanuka, who made 72 runs off 74 balls with 6 fours and a six, remained unbeaten at the crease with Mendis who contributed 31 runs to CCC’s first inning total but they still trail by 409 runs with 8 wickets in hand.
