The third week’s matches of the SLC Major League Tournament continued for day two today (03rd September), at several venues across the island.
Ravindu Fernando and Kamesh Nirmal’s half-centuries help Tamil Union C & AC take the upper hand on day two against Ace Capital CC. Having restricted Ace Capital CC to just 151 runs, Tamil Union C & AC replied with a better batting performance, posting 290 runs on the board.
The leg-spinning all-rounder Dushan Hemantha’s all-round brilliance has put BRC on the verge of a victory against Galle CC on day two. BRC will need just 38 runs more to win with 7 wickets in hand on the final day. Hemantha shone with the ball, taking a match of 11 wickets while contributing with 69 runs to the team with the bat.
The 20-year old Avishka Tharindu stroked a century for Ragama CC, helping his side put on a solid score on the board for the first innings against Kurunegala YCC. Tharindu scored an unbeaten 103 runs off 213 balls, with 8 fours and 4 sixes.
Moors SC continued their domination over Kandy Customs SC on day two, thanks to brilliant batting performances from Dinuka Dilshan and Pasindu Sooriyabandara. The centurion Dilshan made 108 runs off 209 balls including 11 fours, while Sooriyabandara contributed with 85 runs off 113 balls with 6 fours.
