The first round of the SLC Major Clubs U23 Tournament ended today (11th March) at several venues across the island, with all 10 matches having been drawn with a few first innings victories.
Opening batsman Dunith Jayathunga continued from where he let off on Day 1 as he smashed an unbeaten 273 off 345 balls including 22 fours & 5 sixes against Negombo CC, as Badureliya CC posted a mammoth first innings score of 518/9.
Sahil Dias, who represented Air Force SC, was the only other centurion on Day 2 as he scored 103 runs against Tamil Union C & AC at Air Force Grounds in Katunayake.
On the other hand, there were also a few excellent spells that were reported today – Kushan Madusha (Kandy Customs SC), Kaveesha Sathsara (Panadura SC), Nimanda Kirindage (Kurunegala Youth CC) Nipun Premarathne (Chilaw Marians CC) & Malinda Perera (Bloomfield C & AC) got fifers, while Theesan Vithusan (Moors SC), Samindu Nonis (Army CC) & Dellon Peiris (Ragama CC) registered 6-wicket hauls.
