Ace Capital Cricket Club crowned champions of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Overs Tournament 2024 as they beat Colombo Cricket Club in the final worked off today (11th August) at SSC Grounds, Colombo.
Having been asked to bat first, CCC top and middle order batters struggled to cope up against a disciplined bowling effort from Ace Capital CC.
When they were slipped to a precarious 165/8, Isuru Udana and Lakshan Sandakan joined hands in a crucial stand worth 73 runs to drive CCC out of the woods.
Udana played a blinder of innings coming to bat at No. 9 helping his side post a competitive total – 251 on the board. He smashed 80 runs off 46 balls with 7 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 173.91.

Wanuja Sahan and Nimsara Atharagalla shone with the ball, scalping 3 wickets each for Ace Capital CC.
Ace Capital CC got off to a shaky start as they lost 2 top order wickets in the very first over of the innings bowled by left-arm seamer Isuru Udana.
The skipper Thanuka Dabare and Raveen de Silva then steadied the innings, adding 59-run stand for the third wicket.
Ace Capital CC strengthened their grip on the game as De Silva and Sammu Ashan built a match-defining partnership worth 80 runs for the fourth wicket.
Ashan played a magnificent knock anchoring the run-chase for Ace Capital CC. He hit unbeaten 97 runs off 111 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
