Seven matches of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Overs Tournament 2024 were worked off today (5th August) at several venues across the island.  

Badureliya Sports Club registered a thumping win over Colts Cricket Club in their Group B encounter, played today at Colts Cricket Grounds, Colombo.

Having opted to bat first, the home side was bowled out for just 60 runs as the 40-year old left-arm spinner Chanaka Komasaru ripped through their batting lineup, scalping 5 wickets for 21 runs.

The off-spinner Alankara Asanka Silva gave him good support at the other end, claiming 3 wickets for 12 runs. Badureliya SC cruised to the target in 12.2 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

Ragama CC recorded a comfortable win over Tamil Union C & AC in their Group A encounter, played today at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.

The off-spinner Kalhara Senarathne (5/28) and the skipper Saminda Fernando (85) were the chief architects of Ragama CC’s victory.

Sinhalese Sports Club registered a thrilling win over Negombo Cricket Club in their Group A encounter played today at SSC Grounds, Colombo.

The middle order batter Sheshan Fernando struck a fine century in a losing cause for Negombo CC. Fernando scored 104 runs off 91 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 114.28.

SSC chased down a challenging target of 265 on the back of a brilliant knock played by Sadisha Rajapaksa. The opening batter hit 75 runs off 92 balls with 8 fours and a six, playing a pivotal role in the run-chase.
