Ten matches of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Over Tournament 2023/24 were worked off today (3rd January) at several venues across the island.

Ragama Cricket Club registered a convincing win over Moors Sports Club today at Colts Grounds, thanks to a brilliant bowling performance from Chamath Gomez.

After winning the toss, Ragama Skipper Saminda Fernando opted to field first and the decision turned out to be gold as they knocked over Moors batting lineup for just 74 runs.

Chamath Gomez was brilliant with the ball as he snared 5 wickets for 21 runs in his 4.4-over spell. Seamer Santhush Gunathilake also stood out with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 29 runs.

Ragama CC cruised to the target with ease as they crossed over the line in 14.3 overs with 6 wickets in hand. The opening batter Nishan Madushka played an unbeaten knock of 51 runs off 42 balls with 8 fours and a six.

A blistering century from Niroshan Dickwella and a 5-wicket haul from Chamika Gunasekara helped Nondescripts Cricket Club register a stunning win against Ace Capital Cricket Club.

Gunasekara picked up 5 wickets for 64 runs in his allotted 10 overs to restrict the Ace Capital batting lineup to just 204 runs. NCC scripted a brilliant run-chase thanks to Dickwella’s magnificent century. He hit an unbeaten 115 runs off 76 balls with 12 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 151.31.
