Seven matches of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Over Tournament 2023/24 were worked off today (30th December) in Colombo, Moratuwa and Dombagoda. Only two games produced results, while the remaining five games ended without results due to prevailing weather conditions in the island.
Nondescripts Cricket Club recorded their third win of the tournament as they registered a comfortable win over Burgher Recreation Club today at NCC Grounds in Colombo.
Having won the toss, NCC Skipper Lahiru Udara opted to field first and managed to restrict the opposition to just 153 runs. National capped speedster Matheesha Pathirana and left-arm seamer Sampath Nishshanka bagged 3 wickets each for NCC.

NCC managed to cruise to the target with ease as the opening pair Niroshan Dickwella and Udara provided a flying start to the run-chase. The duo added 85 runs in 8.3 overs for the first wicket, setting the platform in the pursuit of 154.
The Skipper Udara made 55 runs off 39 balls with 9 fours and a six, while Dickwella smashed 48 runs off 24 balls with 9 fours and a six at a strike rate of 200.
Nipun Dhananjaya, the Skipper of Sinhalese Sports Club, stroked a brilliant century against Panadura Sports Club, but the game ended in no result due to rain.
Dhananjaya hit an unbeaten 103 runs off 122 balls with 13 fours, helping SSC post 237 runs on the board. In reply, Panadura SC were 67 for 1 when the heavens opened up at SSC Grounds.
Army Sports Club recorded a convincing win over Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, courtesy of brilliant performances from Dinesh Chandimal and Rashmika Siriwardhana.

Though, Chilaw Marians CC opted to bat first after winning the toss, they had a poor outing with the bat to be bowled out for just 143 runs. Rashmika Siriwardhana was the pick of the bowlers for the soldiers as he snared 3 wickets for 35 runs.
Army SC managed to cross over the line without any hiccups as the experienced batter Chandimal played a responsible innings – 61 runs off 75 balls with 6 fours and a six.
