Nine matches of the SLC Major Clubs 50 Over Tournament 2023/24 were worked off today (23rd December) at several venues across the island.
Thulina Dilshan’s maiden 5-wicket haul in List A career helped Sebastianites Cricket & Athletic Club register a 5-wicket win over Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.

Dilshan picked up 5 wickets for 20 runs to restrict Tamil Union C & AC for 169 runs. Dilshan also showcased his skills with the bat, scoring a vital knock of 32 runs in the run-chase as the Sebastianites recorded their 3rd win of the tournament.
Group A table toppers Negombo Cricket Club suffered their first loss of the tournament as they were outclassed by Colts Cricket Club at Katunayake.
After restricting Negombo CC for just 160 runs courtesy of a collective bowling effort from spinners Muditha Lakshan, Akila Dananjaya and speedster Dilshan Madushanka, all of who picked up 3 wickets each, Colts CC comfortably chased down the target in 44.5 overs with 5 wickets in hand.
The wrist-spinner Pulina Tharanga produced a game-changing spell for Chilaw Marians Cricket Club as they beat Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club by 29 runs at Maggona.

Raveen Yasas and Lasith Lakshan stroked half-centuries to guide the Chilaw Marians CC to a competitive total – 224 on the board. At one stage, the Bloomfield batters were well set to reach the target with ease, but Tharanga came up with a brilliant spell – 5 for 28 – to change the equation in favor of Chilaw Marians.
