Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club crowned champions of SLC Major Clubs 3-Day Tournament 2024/25 as they claimed first innings points against Nondescripts Cricket Club in the final ended in a draw today (8th March) at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Bloomfield C & AC began their second innings 196 runs ahead and put on another dominant batting performance posting 242 runs for 4 wickets at the close of play on fourth and final day.
Asitha Wanninayake who missed out his maiden first-class ton by just 4 runs in the first innings, got to the milestone in the second innings as he made unbeaten 104 runs off 242 balls with 12 fours.
Nipun Karunanayake also chipped in with a fine knock of 75 runs which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. The game ended in a tame draw, but Bloomfield C & AC emerged as the winner of the contest as they claimed first innings honors.
Ron Chandraguptha who set the tone for Bloomfield’s victory with a double ton won the player of the final award while Ravindu Fernando of Bloomfield C & AC won the player of the tournament for his all-round heroics throughout the season.
Fernando scored 415 runs in 9 matches at 31.92 while picking up 52 wickets with the ball. He was the second highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
