Third week of the Major Clubs 3-Day Tournament 2023 began yesterday (7th July) with another 10 games taking place at several venues across the island. However, some of the matches were not able to be played with a full day of cricket due to bad weather conditions.
On the opening day, three batters were managed to cross the 3-figure mark while a spinner from Tamil Union registered the only fifer of the day.
Ragama CC middle-order batter, Janith Liyanage scored a century against SSC. He stroked 106 off 127 balls, within 10 fours & 5 sixes, helping Ragama CC post 345 for their first innings.

Veteran batter Angelo Mathews continued from where he left off last week, registering his 3rd hundred for Colts CC this season. The former remained unbeaten on 129, facing 233 balls with 16 boundaries and still topping the batting chart as well.
Wicket-keeper batsman of Kurunegala YCC, Damith Perera also notched up an unbeaten century against Air Force SC.
In the bowling front, left-arm spinner, Dilum Sudeera bowled an excellent spell, finishing with 5/77 in 24 overs including 4 maidens, for Tamil Union against Police SC.
