Ravindu Fernando’s brilliant hundred and a wrecking fifer from Kanishka Hasitha sealed a massive win for Tamil Union C&AC against Kandy Customs CC. Ten other games were played in the SLC Major Club Youth (U23) Tournament today, 1st October 2020.
Moors SC left-arm spinner, Praveen Jayawickrama’s 4 wickets for 44 runs left the mighty NCC stranded as they eventually succumbed for just 141 runs in the rain-shortened 22-over game. The game was wrapped in favor of Moors SC as the former Anandian skipper, Kavishka Anjula entertained with 61 runs. The left-hander staged a firework at the center.
Suwath & Malindu seal easy win for CCC
Ashan Dilhara of Panadura Sports club scored a fighting 76 runs in vain as his team went down against Air Force SC despite his excellence with the bat. The stars for Air Force were the spinners Shashika Priyamal (3/35), Nusky Ahamed (3/47) while similar efforts with the ball from Panadura SC spinners Sasanka Nirmal (3/38) and Kaumal Nanayakkara (3/34) went fruitless.
Nipun Dananjaya keeps his fine run in the Major Youth tournament going as the stylish left-hander scored an unbeaten 84 today versus the club which is three doors down the street, CCC. Experienced campaigner Ashen Bandara also scored a fine fifty for SSC in the same game.
Ragama CC skipper, Nishan Madushka scored a painstaking fifty to give a decent total to his team which was duly saved by the team’s frontline spinner, Shashika Dulshan who bagged five for 18.
Badureliya CC recorded a 5 wicket win against the high-riding Army SC, courtesy skipper Dunith Jayathunga who anchored the chase with an elegant 87 runs.
Tharusha’s stylish 79 gives 120-run win for Sebastianites
Colombo Colts CC had a sublime day as all their superstars performed magnificently against Saracen SC. The gritty all-rounder from down south Dhananjaya Lakshan led the way with an enterprising 88 runs which were capped and put away by the lean and lanky left-arm speedster, Dilshan Madushanka who picked up 4 wickets for just 9 runs. He was given a splendid hand by his former Sri Lanka U19 teammate Rohan Sanjaya who grabbed 3 scalps for 15.
Two games were washed away without a ball being bowled today.
