Eleven games of SLC Major Club Youth Tournament 2020/21 were worked off today, 04th October 2020.
Sanoj Darshika of Chilaw Marians CC scored an elegant hundred and remained unbeaten to earn a 46-run win against Air Force SC. Shabik Ifthary and Suhanga Wijewardena showed a bit of resistance on behalf of Air Force SC but ended up losing the game.
Former Sri Lanka youth skipper Nipun Dhananjaya struck a stroke-filled century against Bloomfield C&AC as SSC won the game by 67 runs. Nipun was duly supported by the all-rounder from Kandy, Chamindu Wickramasinghe who managed 53 runs to his name. Vinuja Ranpul of Bloomfield C&AC also scored an unbeaten 75 runs.
Dileepa Jayalath recorded the only fifer of the day as many other bowlers recorded 3-wicket hauls. The former Anandian left-arm spinner picked up 5/44 but wasn’t fortunate enough to win the game.
In the game between NCC and Colombo Colts CC, NCC were shot out for as low as 38 runs by the Colts CC bowlers. Dhanajaya Lakshan who comes after a brisk 88 runs in the last game proved his all-round excellence by picking up 4 wickets against NCC today. The guileful right-arm seamer was unplayable for the NCC batsmen as they only managed 9 runs off of him.
His partner in crime was another paceman from the South, Nipun Ransika who bagged 3 for 09. NCC were undone with no mercy for just 37 runs.
Following a thumping defeat in the last game, Lankan CC got back with an 8 wicket win over Panadura SC, thanks to the pocket size dynamite, Vishwa Chathuranga who smashed more than half of the teams score. Vishwa scored a fierce 75 runs chasing 128 for a target. Lankans CC got to the mark in just under 15 overs.
It was another round of fire-works at CCC grounds as CCC met Galle CC. Vinura Dulsara of Galle CC scored a fighting 70 to post a decent score on board for Galle CC. But, the Galle CC bowlers were torn apart by the CCC batsmen as they reached the mark in just 24.5 overs. All-rounder Sonal Dinusha scored an unbeaten 61 runs while opener Malindu Maduranga smashed a quickfire fifty.
In a close fight between Negombo CC and Ragama CC Manisha Rupasinghe of Ragama CC top-scored with 65 runs while Nushal Dharmarathna scored 61 runs. Dimuth Sandaruwan of Negombo CC fought hard with 56 runs to his name but the game ended in favour of Ragama with 1 ball to spare.
