Upon his return to the island after a successful Test tour in Bangladesh, Dinesh Chandimal proved his worth to SL Army SC with a match-winning fifty. The former Sri Lankan captain made 53 runs in 45 deliveries as he played the anchor in the game.
Army SC was chasing 132 runs for victory and the opener Ashan Randika set the pace for the chase with 3 maximums and 4 fours in his quick knock of 39 runs. Chandimal took the baton from Randika and made sure Army SC crossed the mark in 16.4 overs against the Moors SC.
Earlier in the day, another Sri Lanka colours man, Chathuranga de Silva scored a brilliant half-century, despite walking in with his team in deep trouble at 11 for 4. De Silva though was unstoppable as the left-hander hammered 5 sixers on his way to 61 runs, before running himself out.
Suminda Lakshan bagged 3 wickets in the game for Army SC with his shimmy leg-spinners.
The most outstanding bowling performance of the day came from the pocket-size leg-spinner from Galle, Hareen Buddila. The left-armer bagged 4 wickets for just 12 runs in his 4 overs against SL Navy SC. Despite scoring just 98 runs in their 20 overs, Galle CC managed to pull the game off, thanks to Buddila’s extraordinary performance.

Ravishka Wijesiri assisted Buddila with 3 wickets to his tally as the sailors sunk for just 61 runs.
Ace Capital CC recorded the highest score of the tournament so far as the Fernando duo – Shehan Fernando & Oshada Fernando – made useful contributions with the bat against Badureliya CC.
Oshada Fernando, who also seemed to have found form during the Bangladesh tour, scored a brisk 44 runs in 25 deliveries while another clean striker of the cricket ball in Sri Lanka, Shehan Fernando stacked up 43 runs in 33 deliveries with 4 sixes in his innings.
The experienced Gihan Rupasinghe tried to pull Badureliya CC over the line with a valiant 51 runs to his name. He did not get any assistance from his team as the rest of the team only scored 38 runs including the 7 extras.
The left-arm spinner, Chanaka Devinda was the pick of the bowlers for Ace Capital CC as he returned figures of 3 for 12 in his 4 overs.
