The fifth day of the SLC Invitation Limited-Over tournament saw only 1 game in Group A being worked off at Surrey Village Ground, Maggona, Kalutara between Baduraliya CC and Negombo CC where the visitors hammered the hosts by 89 runs.
Baduraliya CC won the toss and asked the opposition to bat first at their home ground and their bowlers were punished all over the ground for 285 in 50 overs.
Ashen Silva and Madawa Warnapura stroked half centuries to solidify the Negombo innings as the pair added 74 and 69 respectively.
Southpaw Roscoe Thattil blasted a quick-fire 52 off 28 balls to propel the Negombo total to 285 at the later part of the innings.
In reply, Baduraliya batters couldn’t make a positive impression chasing as they were bundled out for 196. Dilshan Munaweera who made a rapid 49 with the bat, destroyed the opposition innings with 4 wickets while Sahan Adeesha contributed with 3 wickets.
With this 89-run win, Negombo has won 2 out of 4 matches and stand in 3rd place in Group A.
