The third day of the SLC Invitation Limited–Over tournament saw only 1 game in Group B being worked off at the Galle international cricket stadium between Galle CC and Chilaw Marians CC where the visitors hammered the hosts by a landslide of 168 runs.
Galle CC won the toss and asked the opposition to bat first in their home ground and their bowlers did a decent job by restricting Chilaw for 241 inside 48.1 overs.
Left arm spinner Kavika Dilshan led the charge for Galle, collecting 4 wickets for just 28 runs being the highest wicket taker of the game.
Chilaw innings was saved by right-handed top order batsman Lasith Croospulle who stroked a match winning 84 including 8 boundaries to spice-up the visitor’s batting effort. Later in the innings, 27 year old all-rounder Chathuranga Kumara stole 40 runs from Galle CC to guide Chilaw to 241.
In reply, no batsmen from the home team succeeded in respoding to the challenge put up by Chilaw CC bowlers as they were bundled out for just 73 runs. Kumara again stole the show with 3 wickets to hand the visitors a huge 168 runs win.
Currently, Chilaw CC has won both of their games played while Galle is yet to open their account in points column.
