SLC felicitates two veteran umpires

Sri Lanka Cricket felicitated two retired umpires, who had rendered their services to the country for over 20 years today, 14th August 2020.

The experienced Mr D.N. Pathirana and Mrs K.R.P. Doolwala were ceremonially appreciated for their services at the SLC headquarters in Maitland place. They were both presented with mementoes and cash rewards.

SLC contracts for 20 umpires

Mr Pathirana was an international umpire who officiated in 30 One-Day Internationals and the reserve umpire in 8 Tests. He was on duty as a leading umpire in the domestic scene from 1982 to 2006. 

Mrs Doolwala was one of the first female umpires in Sri Lanka. She was also a former Sri Lanka women’s cricketer who took up umpiring following her heyday. She retired from umpiring after officiating for over two decades while being a Sara Trophy qualified umpire at SLC. 

Lanka Premier League postponed

The occasion was organized by the umpires committee chairman at the SLC, Mr Deepal Madurapperuma and the head of domestic cricket Mr Chinthaka Edirimanne.
