Gateway College vs Azhar International College

The first match of the Group D was played at St. Peter`s College between Gateway College vs Azhar International College. Even though Azaharians did look threatening during the maiden quarter Gateway bounced back during the secondand the third quarter to register their first win.

Azaharians did have an offensive strategy but lacked experience to execute which was the main factor that differentiated the two teams.

Gateway College having the services of experienced campaigners such as Nicchla, Melantha and Pasan it was not a tough ask to make the life of  the opponents a tough

one. Gateway led the game 35-27 and made sure that they pressed Azaharians to change strategies in both offense and defense.

Gateway opted to 1-2-2 defense while the Azaharians opted for a man-to-man defense. Pasan and Sapth held control of the Gaetway offense while Melantha and Romesh made sure to etch the rebounds. Gateway led the game by nineteen points as the final scoreboard read 76-57 in favour of Gateway College, Rajagiriya.

St.Peter’s College vs Azhar International College

Peterites played their first match after the scheduled encounter between De Lasalle College was postponed due to inclement weather. Azahr International College stepped into the game after a defeat of nineteen points. Hence this was a crucial match for them to secure their place in the tournament.

Peterites taking on the Azaharian full swing lead the game in the halfway quarter 34-15 Petes used the home advantage in both offense and defense as they managed to win the game 76-57 at full time.
