SL Ports Authority CC crowned 2014/15 Domestic Champions

Ashan Priyanjan led his domestic team, Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club to their maiden Premier League Championship when they defeated previous champions, Nondescript Cricket Club by 193 runs in the league-title deciding clash which took place at P. Sara oval stadium

NCC were struggling at 82 for 5 when play resumed on day 4 and the Ports Authority bowlers made sure their lower order batsmen were sent back to the pavilion immediately as NCC 2nd innings was restricted to only 117 runs with chief-wrecker Malinda Pushpakumara scalping 4 wickets while Sandun Weerakkody top-scored for the losing team with 31 runs.

SL Ports 243 in 64.3 overs: Dhananjaya De Silva 64, Ashan Priyanjan 52, Isuru Udana 40, Mahela Udawatte 29, Tharindu Kaushal 5/51, Sohan Boralessa 4/63.

NCC – 214 all out in 73 overs: Niroshan Dickwella 52, Pawan Wickramasinghe 26, Farveez Maharoof 24, Sohan Boralessa 24, Jehan Mubarak 16, Upul Tharanga 15, Chaminda Vidanapathirana 35*, Chaminda Bandara 3/37, Isuru Udana 2/28, Malinda Pushpakumara 2/48.

SL Ports (2nd inn) – 281 all out in 83.5 overs: Dhananjaya De Silva 127, Ashan Priyanjan 91, Tharindu Kaushal 8/131, Dushmantha Chameera 2/44.

NCC (2nd inn) – 117 all out in 38.5 overs: Farveez Maharoof 28, Sandun Weerakkody 31, Malinda Pushpakumara 4/29, Sachithra Serasinghe 2/25.  

Sri Lanka Ports Authority won 4 matches in 7 games in the Super Eight stage securing 92.35 points while NCC managed only 85 points through their 7 encounters. Ragama CC won the Plate Championship surpassing Colts CC. 

 

Moors vs Tamil Union

Moors secured a close 30-run win over Tamil Union at CCC grounds to secure the 3rd place in the final points table. 

Tamil Union were 76 for 5 at stumps on day 3 but a counter-attacking and unbeaten 91 by Ramith Rambukwella was not enough for them as they were bowled out for 196. 

Moors – 315 all out in 85.5 overs: Oshada Fernando 93, Denuwan Rajakaruna 44, Ramith Rambukwella 5/41, Devin Pathmanathan 4/96.

Tamil Union – 348 all out in 82 overs: Pabasara Waduge 111, Rumesh Buddika 106, Ramith Rambukwella 57, Chathuranga De Silva 3/77, Dilhara Lokuhettige 2/36, Janaka Gunaratne 3/73.

Moors (2nd inn) – 259 all out in 58 overs: Irosh Samarasuriya 59, Janaka Gunaratne 54, Chathuranga De Silva 51, Madushan Ravichandrakumar 4/48, Devind Pathmanathan 2/40.

Tamil Union (2nd inn) – 196 all out in 71.5 overs: Manoj Sarathchandra 40, Ramith Rambukwella 91*, Janaka Gunaratne 3/72, Chathuranga De Silva 4/63.

 

CCC vs Badureliya

CCC cruised to a massive 282-run win over Badureliya SC at R. Premadasa Stadium.

After setting a mammoth 518 runs to win, CCC bowled out their opponents for only 235 with fast-bowler Dilesh Gunaratne and left-arm chinamen spinner, Lakshan Rangika taking 4 wickets apiece. 

CCC – 297 all out in 94.5 overs: Maduka Liyanapathirana 92, Hashan Duminda 62, Gayan Sirisoma 3/76, Mohomad Dilshad 3/74, Charitha Buddika 2/28.

Badureliya – 194 all out in 58.4 overs: Milinda Siriwardena 84, Lasanna Perera 47, Lakshan Sandakan 5/58, Dilesh Gunaratne 4/59. 

CCC (2nd inn) – 414/8 declared in 93.1 overs: Lasith Abeyratne 126, Geshan Wimaladharma 74, Prasanna Jayawardene 72, Mohammed Dilshad 4/95, Gayan Sirisoma 2/120.

Badureliya (2nd inn) – 235 all out in 52.1 overs: Supeshala Jayathilake 75, Milinda Siriwardene 58, Dilesh Gunaratne 4/48, Lakshan Rangika 4/67.

At the end of the long club championship, Badureliya skipper Milinda Siriwardene took the pole position in most runs scoring 1144 in 19 innings and he scored 3 tons to maintain an average of 67.29. Veteran NCC batsman Jehan Mubarak scored 1043 runs in 18 innings with an average of 65.18. Sri Lanka Army skipper Asela Gunaratne scored 850 runs in 8 matches with 4 centuries.

League winners, SL Ports Authority’s main man behind their success, Malinda Pushpakumara topped the bowling charts claiming 70 wickets in 10 games while mystery off-spinner from NCC, Tharindu Kaushal took 60 wickets in 8 games. Chilaw Marians’ fast-bowler Lahiru Gamage ended in the 3rd position with 54 wickets in 9 matches.
