Sirisoma lifts National crown for 23rd time

Reigning champion K.H. Sirisoma of Sri Lanka Ports Authority once again proved his superiority in the sport when he clinched the National title for the 23rd time beating S.H.M. Aslam of Moors Sports Club by six frames to four in the 62nd National Billiards Championship final which concluded at the Sugathadasa Sports Hotel yesterday.

It was conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka.

The final was worked off in two sessions, and Sirisoma completed the initial morning session in style by winning three frames to two. He went on to complete the final stage in the same manner (3-2) and in the process entertaining the crowds with his superb skills.

It was a tough final for the experienced Aslam. Sirisoma scored 100 points while allowing Aslam to collect just 85 points in the sixth frame to seal victory.

In a career spanning over 60 years, the 23-time billiards champion first won the title in 1985.
