St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa vs St. Anthony’s College, Kandy

The game was played at the St. Sebastian’s Grounds, Moratuwa. After winning the toss, the Sebastian’s skipper elected to bat first. Opener Dunith Jayathunga’s elegant 77 runs up the order gave them a good start, but no other batsmen were impressive as Sebastian’s were restricted to 178 runs. Kalhara Senarathne, who was impressive in the recently concluded U19 Asia Cup and India U19s Tour of Sri Lanka, bowled brilliantly bagging a fifer for fifty-eight runs.

In reply, the Anthonians were much composed and positive. They posted 207-runs comfortably for the loss of 7 wickets and declared their innings. Navodya Wijeykumara, another Sri Lanka U19 cap from St. Anthony’s, led the batting with a well-made half-century. Tashik Perera and Thadula de Silva picked up 2 wickets each.

The last session of the game was very eventful as St. Anthony’s bowlers ran havoc in the Sebastian’s batting line-up ripping them off for just 78 runs. But the game did not have any time left in it. It was called a draw with just 49 runs as the target for St. Anthony’s.
