Sri Lanka U19 cap Nishan Madushka scored a brilliant unbeaten century to save his school, Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya in their traditional fixture against Prince of Wales College Moratuwa.
The 2-day match which began yesterday (14th Oct) at the Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya grounds saw the visitors winning the toss and electing to bowl first. Batting first in their home ground, the hosts were bundled out for a mere 113 runs in 48 overs.

Left-arm spinner Kaumal Nanayakkara, who has been successful throughout the season once again starred with the ball claiming 5 wickets for 33 runs.
In their first inning, Prince of Wales College too couldn’t compile a very big lead as the home boys managed to restrict the opponents for 151 with the help of Vishwa Fernando’s 3/40. Devaka Peiris was the highest run scorer for the visitors scoring exactly 50 runs.
With 38 runs behind the Cambrians first innings score the Moratuwa Maha Vidyalaya boys were desperately in need of a big inning from one of their batsmen. Nishan Madushka producing exactly the kind of inning his team wanted scored an unbeaten 172 with the help of all the experience he gained by playing first-class cricket, provincial cricket and youth internationals.
Suwath Mendis grabbed 6 wickets for 112 runs as the hosts accumulated 225 runs for their 2nd inning leaving the Cambrians with a target of 188 runs to claim outright victory.
In the final inning of the match, which lasted only 19 overs Prince of Wales College lost 2 wickets and managed to score 54 runs. The match ended in a draw.
