Science College showcased some brilliant display to defend their title beating Trinity College in the final. Meanwhile, Isipathana College won the Plate, Dharmaraja College won the Bowl and Zahira College won the Shield competition.
Zahira College was crowned Shield champions; Dharmaraja College won the Bowl championship and Isipathana College the Plate championship while Science College came out on top to beat Trinity College and claim the Cup title.

Day two kicked off with the Cup quarter finals. Science College defeated Isipathana College early in the morning as they made themselves favorites to clinch the title (Science 10-05 Isipathana). In the other Cup quarter finals Wesley (12) defeated St. Peter’s College (07), Trinity beat arch rivals Royal 10-05 and Kingswood College beat Thurstan College 15-nil.
In the Bowl quarter finals Dharmaraja College (31) beat Eheliyagoda (00), St. John’s (21) came out on top versus Vidyartha College Kandy (17), C.W.W Kannangara (22) beat Veluwana (12) and Lumbini (17) beat favorites St. Anthony’s College (07).
The Final four quarter finals witnessed Carey College beat St. Benedict’s College 10-05. Maliyadewa College (10) beat Piliyandala Central (05). Richmond College and Zahira College got walk overs respectively from Lalith Athulathmudali and Royal College Panadura.
Isipathana College (31) and Royal College (54) cruised into the Plate final as St. Peter’s and Thurstan College were beaten respectively.
Maliyadewa College (12) beat St. Benedict’s College (05) while Zahira College (48) beat Richmond College (00) to book a Shield final with Maliyadewa College.
In the bowl Semi-final Dharmaraja College and C.W.W Kannangara eased passed St. John’s and Lumbini respectively to book a Bowl final birth.
In the Cup semi-final one Science College took Wesley College to the cleaners as they were clinically beaten 46 points to nil. Semi-final two saw two schools from Kandy meet as Trinity took on Kingswood. The result was as predicted as Trinity racked up 24 points while conceding none as they cruised to book a final berth with the boys from Mount Lavinia, Science College.
Shield Final
The first of the finals, the shield final saw Maliyadewa College take on Zahira College. The game was a close affair from the start as both teams battled hard from the word go. Zahira College managed to pull away in the dying embers of the game and sealed it in the final minutes with a try as they won the Shield championship. (Zahira 28 – Maliyadewa 14)
Bowl Final
Dharmaraja College battled C.W.W Kannangara in the Bowl final. The game was a one sided affair from the start as Dharmaraja proved too strong for C.W.W Kannangara. Dharmaraja managed four unanswered tries as they ran out comfortable winners to secure the Bowl. (Dharmaraja 22 – C.W.W 00)
Plate Final
The plate final was a more evenly contested affair between hosts Royal and Isipathana. Isipathana got the early lead as they scored a converted try early on. Royal did not let the pressure get to them as they too managed a converted try to head in to half time with the scores locked on at 7 apiece.
The second half was a topsy-turvy affair but neither team managed to break the dead lock until a last gasp try from Isipathana College as they ran out Plate winners. (Isipathana 12 – Royal 7)
Cup Final
The Final was a not a game to remember for Trinity as they made many errors in the game. Ironically points for Science College came off an unforced error by Trinity as a drop ball was collected and an exquisite switch saw the attacker run hard and break two tackles to score under the post for Science. (Science 7-0 Trinity)
Science College seemingly put the game in the bag as they scored their second try that rounded off a wonderful move supported by every single Science player to score in the far corner. (Science 12-0 Trinity)
The second half yielded a try apiece for both teams but it was not good enough for Trinity as Science College ran out deserved winners as they captured the Under 18 7’s title.
