High jumper turned hurdler Roshan Dhammika won Silver medal in the Men’s 110m hurdles at the Thailand Open Track & Field Championship with a new personal best time in the event.

Roshan Dhammika of Sri Lanka Army was a junior high jumper of fame but switched to the hurdles couple of years ago. Roshan had a terrific start to the race as he was the first to clear the first few hurdles but was unfortunate to miss out on a well deserved Gold medal in what turned out to be a photo finish where the eventual Gold medal winner Anousone Xaysa of Laos and Roshan both clocked the identical times of 14:22secs with Xaysa’s body slightly being ahead of Roshan resulting in him being awarded Gold.

With Roshan’s silver in the Men’s 110m hurdles, Sri Lanka has secured a total of four medals at the Championship with Shyama Dulani winning Gold in the Women’s 400m hurdles while Asanka Rathnasena (400m hurdles) and Sarangi Silva (Long Jump) both winning Bronze medals in their respective events.
