Woshanntha Silva made a hurricane 123 in as many as 129 deliveries as host Nalanda made an imposing 341 for nine declared against St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota in their under 19 cricket match commenced at Campbell Park today.

Silva was in cracking form as he smashed 15 boundaries and four towering sixes to help home team to a massive total before declaring just one ball left for the completion of their 80th over. He was well supported by Pramud Hettiwatte with a well made 51 and Senura Amarasinghe with a fine 46 runs. Silva took the bowlers to a sword with a array of shots around the ground. Uditha Mahindaratne and Dilan Bandara were however impressive as their claimed four wickets apiece to curtail the high ridding Nalandians. Mahindaratne claimed four for 70 runs while Bandara conceded 84 runs for his four scalps. At close on day one St. Anthony’s were 17 for the loss of one wicket after facing 12 overs in the dying moments of the game. They were trail by 324 runs with nine wickets in hands in the first innings and needs a good contribution from their top order to avoid a first innings defeat.
