Havelock Sports Club’s stronghold second row forward Sharo Fernando, who has been an instrumental part of the team’s success in the recent years, will wear the CR & FC colours in the upcoming Dialog Rugby League.

Sharo’s transfer comes in as shocking news ahead of the transfer deadline which is in November as Havelock Sports Club are on the verge of losing all of their senior campaigners ahead of the upcoming league season.

A product of St. Peter’s College, Sharo rose to fame soon after leaving school, making his professional debut for Havelock Sports Club in 2008. Fernando stood out as an aggressive second rower and that earned him a call up to the national fifteens that same year.

Since then, the six-footer Fernando has been a dominant figure in the club rugby arena, representing Havelock Sports Club, CR & FC & later Navy SC.

Fernando also has a rare feat of winning two league titles back to back in 2013 & 2014 with Havelock SC and Navy SC.

Switching back to Havelock colours in 2015, he has played an important role in the side, leading up to their Dialog Clifford Cup triumph last year.

For CR, the inclusion of Sharo comes at an important stage with the side looking to rebuild ahead of an important season. CR & FC have had several key signings such as Rizah Mubarak and Dinuk Amerasinghe, both switching from Havelock SC.

The Dialog Rugby League for 2019/20 will kick off in November.
