Sensei Senadhipathi elected President of NWKF

With the SLKF AGM being held on the 6th of July, the spree of the provincial AGMs have begun.

The North Western Karate Federation held its AGM over the last weekend. Many plans and ideas were put forward by the members to develop the sport in the province under which the Kurunegala Karate Federation and the Puttalam Karate Federation function. There is a sense of refreshed enthusiasm in the Karate fraternity worldwide as the sport has been recognized by the World Olympics Committee and will be seen in action for the first time at the 2020 Olympics games scheduled to be held in Tokyo.

Amidst all this, this AGM saw Sensei Z A Rauf stepping down from his service of 6 years to the NWKF as General Secretary as he was entrusted with a larger scope of responsibilities in the Sri Lanka Karate Federation as Assistant Secretary.

The SLKF’s comments on the NWKF newly appointed committee were all nothing but positive and also hopeful. The senior most trio of the NWKF in the top three seats namely, Sensei Senadhipathi, Sensei Jayaratne and Sensei Meegolla complement each other well in leading the province as the north western has seen many a Karateka continuing on to represent the country and keep our flag flying. Especially, the Kurunegala district has been a substantial breeding ground for many prominent national players.

With the district and provincial level tournaments looming around the corner, the committee members in their speeches iterated that these tournaments secure the top most place in their list of priorities and that they will do everything possible in their capacity to somehow bring the National Championship to Kurunegala.
