Under 14 and Under 16 encounters between Science College and St Anthony’s College were held today, ahead of the Singer Schools Rugby League encounter between the two 1st XV sides earlier today (22nd)
Under 16
Science College started the match very aggressively, taking the ball to the opposite half repeatedly. As a result, they managed to score the first try of the match followed by an unsuccessful conversion. A few minutes later they managed to score another try, but this time the conversion was successful. Just before the half time whistle Anthony’s Juniors made their comeback with a try and a conversion.

From the second half, the Kandy juniors defended impressively to overcome the Science youngsters. In the meantime, the Antonian lads managed to score a penalty which narrowed the lead to 2 points. But afterwards some solid defense from the Science juniors helped them finish the game in their favor.

Under 14
The U14 game was much more one-sided. The first half was taken by the Anthony’s youngsters due to their relentless play.
Half Time: St. Anthony’s College 10: 5 Science College
Kandy juniors played some attacking rugby in the second half and applied pressure on the Science juniors, scoring multiple times. At last they finished the match with the scores reading 24: 05.
