Science, Rajans, Kingswood and three others proceed to Under 16 fifteen-a-side Semi’s

Eheliyagoda Madyamaha Vidyalaya, Asoka Vidyalaya, Thurstan College, Science College, Kingswood College and Dharmaraja College all qualified for the under 16 fifteen-a-side league semi finals.

The days proceedings got underway at 9am as 6 quarterfinals were played at the Racecourse International Stadium.

Eheliyagoda Madyamaha Vidyalaya vs Siri Piyarathana Madyamaha Vidyalaya

Eheliyagoda made easy work of Piyarathana storming past the latter with a score line of 57-00. The school from the Sabaragamuwa District, Eheliyagoda Madyamaha Vidyalaya scored 7 tries in the first half and 4 tries in the second half, conceding no points throughout the game.

Asoka Vidyalaya vs Gihithota Madyamaha Vidyalaya

The lads from Colombo proved to be to hot to handle as they beat the visitors through a sublime first half performance. Asoka scored 22 points in the first half, incidentally the only points in the game as the game drew to a close with a scoreline of 22-00 in favour of Asoka Vidyalaya.

Thurstan College vs Revatha Vidyalaya

Thurstan College was never tested as they beat Revatha Vidyalaya by a massive 66-00 scoreline. Thurstan scored 10 tries in the game as 6 came in the first half and 4 in the second. The Thurstan defence was as good as their attack as it held firm yielding no points.

Science College vs D.S. Senanayake College

The lads from Mount Lavinia were at their usual best in their quarter final match up. Science College scored 4 tries in each half as they put on 50 points, while holding their opposition, conceding no points.

Kingswood College vs St. John’s College

The juniors from the Hill Capital were too good an opposition for St. John’s, winning 37-00. 5 tries in the first half and 2 in the second rounded off a good day for Kingswood as they marched into the semi finals.

Dharmaraja College vs Lumbini College

The final game of the day saw yet another team from Kandy win, getting the better out of Lumbini College. The Rajans scored 3 tries as they were made to work for their victory.
