All Singer Schools’ Rugby League games involving Kandy schools that were scheduled to be held in week two of the League have been postponed.
The Wesley vs Dharmaraja rugby fixture that was to be held on the 10th of March and the Trinity vs St. Anthony’s game that was scheduled to be held on the 11th of March have been postponed due to the unrest in Kandy.
It has been reported that none of the four A Division teams from Kandy have been able to attend training for the last few days due to the unfortunate situation. Kingswood College is the only team of the four to have played a game in the League so far as they faced Royal College down in Colombo over the last weekend.
According to Denzel Darling, the tournament secretary, all games involving Kandy schools, that were to be played over this weekend, have been postponed and will be rescheduled to be played at the end of the 1st round of action. The following week’s matches (16th, 17th,18th and 19th March) will go ahead as scheduled, with Trinity playing St. Joseph’s in their 1st game of the League in Kandy, St. Anthony’s hosting Royal and Dharmaraja playing Isipthana in Kandy.
The S Thomas’ vs St Joseph’s game that is scheduled to be played on the 12th of March at Havelock Park, will go ahead as planned.
