Schools Limited Overs : Sylvestrians record 370 to win

The under 19 Limited over edition has begun this week and it’s a thrilling start in Group P as two Kandy schools started off the clash with massive scores.

Sylvestrian captain Hansamal Perera won the important toss and decided to bat first and scored a massive 370 runs for 6 wickets at the end of 50 overs .This massive historical score was a huge mile stone for Sylvestrians as they show their great strength of the team this season.

Ultimately Rajans started aggressively to reach this huge score but strong bowling unit lead by Nimesh Mendis made sure that the huge score is defended. Dharamaraja College came up with a strong reply with their batting line up, but Sylvestrians captured some crucial wickets at the correct time which ensured their victory.

Key highlights

Hansamal Perera and Udayawansha Prakkarama  the two  most outstanding  batsmen for the Sylvestrians ended with  two centuries and Malith Premathilaka scored a half century which altogether brought this big score making a huge impact for the 2014/15 limited over cricket season.

In reply Kavuindu Rathnayaka nd Kavishka Dissanayaka scored two half centuries respectively for the loosing team which was a great challenge for the Sylvestrians. Outstanding 10 overs from Nimesh Mendis who captured 4/50 in his 10 overs was the strength for the bowling department for the winning team to restrict the opponents to 276 runs.

The outstanding batting strength today from Sylvestrians has provided this huge victory against one of their favorite opponents in Kandy and Hansamal Perera must be noted on his great consistent batting performance and he is a key signature cricketer who will be able to reach national standard in the future if he is opportunity to represent national junior squads. But at the end of the day it was a great game of cricket from great cricket teams and we can hope much more record breaking matches In this season as all schools are pumped up with more dedication to the game.
