One of the most celebrated coaches in the modern day rugby arena, the former Isipathana player Sanath Martis will take on a new challenge in driving the Park club to glory. He succeeds Ronny Ibrahim as head coach from last season.

Having spearheaded Royal College’s league title this year, Martis will be expected to play a dynamic coaching role this season having already signed a three-year contract with St. Peter’s College as well.

The club structure is nothing alien to the former CR & FC represent who completes 22 years of coaching in the local circuit. The challenge at Havelock SC would definitely be a new avenue for the veteran coach who is expected to take them to a league title.
Just last year, Havelock SC missed out on the silverware despite winning the same number of matches as league winners Kandy Sports Club due to bonus points.

Havelock SC boasts of a powerful front row while the likes of Kevin Dixon, Nishon Perera and Dulaj Perera bolster the backline for the pink jerseys. The Havies strive to be a comprehensive unit and Sanath Martis should be able to provide his expertise for them to go the extra mile.
It will be interesting to see what coach Martis’s formula for success will be at Havelock Sports Club when the league kicks off on the 3rd of November 2017.
