Saracens SC has been revamped with new financial backing as they look to make an impact in this seasons Sri Lanka Cricket Premier League.
Saracens finished in the penultimate position in the group (A) stage but came back strong to finish second place in the Plate segment to cap a successful second half to their season.
This season with new financial backing and recruitment’s of the likes of Sri Lankan All-rounder Milinda Siriwardana, Kasun Rajitha, Suraj Randiv and Sri Lanka “A” fast bowler Mohomed Dilshad, Saracens SC will be looking to stake a claim to the 2016/17 Premier League trophy.
Bit of History
The club has always been fighting relegation but since been promoted in 2014/ 15 they have managed to survive in the top tier of the SLC premier tournament. The group stage of the 2015/16 season was disastrous as Saracens finished one before last, losing two matches, drawing three matches as one game was abandoned.
Key Players
Harsha Cooray will be leading Saracens SC for the second year running. He will be a vital batsman coming in the middle order. His past season experience will be tested as Saracens will be looking to push fellow rivals.
Milinda Siriwardana, the Sri Lankan all-rounder moved from Badureliya and will look to put in some good performances as he looks to make a stake for national selection yet again. Milinda Siriwardana broke through to the national side in 2015 after several years of encouraging domestic returns. Outstanding form in the 2015 Premier League Tournament prompted his elevation. He was the first-class season’s top scorer with 1144 runs at an average of 67.29, and had also claimed 20 wickets for Badureliya Cricket Club.
The tall off-spinner with gentle action, Suraj Randiv made the switch from Galle CC as he looks to take Saracens towards a championship. Suraj Radiv brings in experience of more than 3000 runs and 550+ wickets.

New boys
Sangeeth Cooray, born in 1995 is a fresh face who could make an impact with both bat and ball. The left handed opening batsman comes in from Moors SC. He managed more than 250 runs last season in his debut first class season.
Coaching staff
Dinesh Weerasinghe has been at the club for the past few years. He will be hoping to better his past two years this time around as he has had the power to purchase new players. Yomal Sanjeewa will be at hand as the assistant while Roshan Danushka will have the trainer’s duty. Chandra Rodrigo will be the manager of the team.
