Sri Lanka Cricket announced today that on an initiative of its President Mr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Kumar Sangakkara met with the Executive Committee of SLC and had an open discussion today and all the differences and misunderstandings were resolved very cordially.
Sangakkara ran into issues when faced with problem of representing his franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad and turning out for Kadurata Maroons which is the Sri Lankan team in the Champions League. The stalwart was made to look like the villain when Sri Lanka Cricket made it out that he wished to join his franchise over representing the Sri Lankan team Kandurata. Sanga was later quoted saying he will represent Kandurata. It is believed that this will come at a personal cost to him as he will be penalized by his franchise.
It cannot be understood why the problem was not anticipated by Sangakkara ahead of this and why Sri Lanka Cricket did not address all players selected for the champions league franchises that if they were apart of the selected Sri Lankan team they would run into issues.
Sangakkara was in the hot seat having to explain his dilemma to the fans as Sri Lanka Cricket left him to take the heat of the debacle. Emails exchanged by Sangakkara and SLC were brought to light by some media causing embarrassment all around.
The meeting is to sort out matters between the two parties
