Sanath Martis  the  Royal College head coach who took the Reid avenue lads to the Schools Rugby league title, spoke with ThePapare.com

on his rumoured move to St Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya.

Referring to the report on ThePapare.com yesterday (21st July), coach Martis corrected the report stating that ‘we are still in the negotiating phase’

Veteran coach Sanath Martis labeled his move to St. Peter’s as a “work in progress” as he and the school are still in the negotiating phase of the move.

He took time, speaking to ThePapare.com and explaining the current situation. “It was just a conversation with St. Peters and nothing has been finalized in writing.  Once a coach wins a league there will be few other schools approach him that is normal everywhere but it doesn’t mean that I have made my decision on this case,” He also stated that this news came in one of the local newspapers and he is not happy and that he will inform the papers to correct this as well.

In his tenure at St. Peter’s, he went on to become one of the most successful coaches in the Island, winning the 2010 schools league title and remaining unbeaten throughout the season.

Martis went on to win the League and Bradby shield in the recently concluded school’s season with Royal College.  Due to his commitment with the schools he has not been able to go on to coaching a club team.
