Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya has been named as the interim head coach of Sri Lanka Men’s National Cricket Team, The Sunday Times reports.
Jayasuriya will take over the job in the interim basis for Sri Lanka’s home series against India and the away tour to England.

Jayasuriya who was appointed as ‘Cricket Consultant’ in December last year oversaw both players and coaches at the High Performance Centre in Khettarama and joined the national team as a consultant during their campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup this year.
Chris Silverwood who worked as the head coach of the national team resigned last month following Sri Lanka’s disastrous campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Jayasuriya’s first assignment as head coach will be India’s tour of Sri Lanka (3 ODIs & 3 T20Is) which will be happening this month followed by a three-match Test series to England which will be played during August-September.
