Sri Lankan Archer Sampath Bandara was unable to progress beyond the Round of 16 at the Tokyo Paralympics, coming short against Vivek Chikara in the Men’s A4 Individual Recurve event.
Bandara faced the Indian archer with a chance to progress to the quarter-final round. He lost the 1st set to Chikara but was able to come back strongly in the 2nd. However, the Indian was in no mood to surrender, winning the 3rd and 4th sets to take the match 6-2.
Last week Bandara competed in the Open round, where he finished with 589 points at the end of the Open competition, finishing in 23rd place overall.
With the defeat, Bandara’s time at the Paralympics ends.
