The boys from Moratuwa won the toss and elected to field first. They managed to tighten the screws on the strong batting line up of S. Thomas’ College from the word go. The Thomians lost their first 3 wickets for just 11 runs in a space of 7.1 overs with Sasika Perera taking two scalps early on. Deon Fernando and Mohommad Isaaq however consolidated for the Thomians but after the loss of Deon Fernando there was another collapse in their innings. They went from 50 for 3 to 86 for 8 in just 11 overs.

Wicket keeper batsman Maneesha Rupasinghe and Shamaika Wickramathilaka resurrected their innings somewhat and pushed them closer to the 150 mark. Maneesha top scored with 35 runs but the highlight of the innings was the spell from Sasika Perera who picked up 4 for 16 and ruined the party for S. Thomas’ College

In response, St Sebastian’s College lost a wicket in the very first over but a sensible partnership between Sukith Prasanna and Dunith Jayathunga steadied the innings. Sukith played the anchor role in the innings as he top scored with 60 runs to push his side closer to the target. Despite Sukith losing his wicket, Janishka Perera’s cameo got the Sebs over the line in the 41st over with 6 wickets to spare. They will go on to face St Joseph’s College in the final during the coming weeks.
