Mr Rajeendra Kalugampitiya the CEO & Chairman of 64 Squire International Chess Academy speaking to Thepapare stated
“This is the third step of the Kandy Open Chess Championship, so we decided to organize as a chess festival including a Blitz Championship as well as a Puzzle Championship along with main event. 357 chess players out of registered 377 participated in the event which proves that this is one of the top events in Sri Lanka. Most of the parents and well wishers appreciated our effort as they are delighted with the way the tournament was conducted. I would like to thank each and everyone who supported me to make this success- my team, Chess Club of Vidyartha College, Chess Club of Peradeniya University. I am so glad that the Deputy vice Chancellor Prof. S.K Hennayaka arrived as the guest of honour for the event.”
