Royal a tad too fast for the Kingswoodians

Royal vs Kingswood

Royal College were the far superior side at Royal Complex this evening as they managed to run past the Lads from the Randles Hill in the season opener and this meant that they started the Schools’ Rugby season off unbeaten.

Both the U14 and U16 matches ended up being one-way traffic as Royal scored heavily, eventually ending up at 32 points to nil and 33 points to nil respectively.

The 14’s game started off in a very demanding manner as both teams went from left to right of the field with no real opportunity to strike. However, Royal managed to finally capitalize on the opportunity when it was on offer and they never looked back since then. Kingswood’s handling was scrappy as there were so many knock-ons and loose passes which Royal capitalized on without hesitation.

However, like their senior team, the junior Royalists were very dominant in the scrums and their forwards were bulky enough to dominate the Kingswood juniors in both games.

Kingswood were hardly given a chance in the U16 encounter as Royal scored, exploiting the gaps with ease. They eventually won the game 33 points to nil.

The Royal youngsters will face St. Anthony’s College Katugasthota at Nittawela while Kingswood will host S.Thomas’ next week.
