Five matches in the Singer Schools U-19 Division 1 two-day cricket tournament 2017/18 were conducted today around the island.
Royal College, Colombo vs Dharmaraja College, Kandy
Spin twins Kamil Mishara and Manula Perera helped Royal College to record an innings victory against Dharmaraja College in the traditional fixture which concluded today at Dharmaraja College grounds. Dharmaraja College resumed day two on 24 for 1 and were bundled out for just 98 runs for their first innings. After being asked to follow on, Dharmaraja batsmen showed some improvement with the bat in the second innings with 172 runs on the board but it was not enough to prevent Royal clinching the victory. Off spinner Kamil Mishara took a match bag of 9 wickets while his partner Manula Perera the left arm version of him took 8 wickets in the match.

Ananda College, Colombo vs Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya
Ananda College continued their dominance against Dharmapala College on day two and won the match by 131 runs. Ananda College resumed day two on 106 for 1 and declared their innings at 225 for 5 and set a target of 320 runs for Dharmapala College to chase. Kushanka Peiris tried his best with a valuable 69 runs to chase the target but Ananda College’s bowlers were too good to handle as the visitors were bowled out for 188 runs.

Maris Stella College recorded an innings win against Presidents College in the Group B encounter which concluded today at Maris Stella College ground. Lads from Negombo resumed day two on 276 for 5 and added another 137 runs for the remaining 5 wickets. Presidents College began their second innings 219 runs behind and poor batting display saw them bundled out for just 70 runs. Pasindu Ushetti starred again with the ball as he picked up 6 for 34 runs.

Hosts’ skipper won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first but the visitors were bowled out for 163 runs. Sandaru Dias was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 4 wickets while Ayesh Harshana took 3 scalps for 11 runs. In reply, Thurstan scored 132 runs for 3 wickets at stumps on day one.
