Dialog Schools Rugby League 2024

Royal College’s unbeaten run was brought to a humbling end at the Complex as St. Peter’s ran circles around the 2nd place team in Group 2. Isipathana meanwhile, continue on their merry way defeating the Antonians, meaning the Title challenge comes down to 2 schools’ even though mathematically, all St. Peter’s, Pathana and Royal all have the chance to win the 2024 Dialog Schools’ Rugby League.

Week 07 match results

Experts backed Royal to be a tougher task for the Peterites at the Complex, however, a 20 minute blitz meant there was no catching up to the Bamba Brigade in the featured game of the Weekend!

Royal were out paced and out played at their home, something we don’t see too often.

This Peterite outfit displayed how good they are, not only in the back division but also with the forwards!

Isipathana continued on their merry way, defeating an already deflated Antonian outfit, as many pundits are asking for changes to be made at the helm of Antonian Rugby.

St. Joesph’s, Zahira and Wesley all had pretty straight forwards victories, however, they are no longer in contention for a super round sport in their respective groups.

DS thumped Sri Sumangala posing more questions about how worthy the teams that qualified are to be playing in the top tier.

week 07 point table

Group 1A

  1. Thomas’ are the in pole position alongside DS, Trinity and as defeat to the Thomians meant the Rajans hopes of a second round is all but shattered!

Having come into the final round of preliminary round fixtures, places for the second round comes at a premium.

A win for Isipathana will see them top their group, however, a loss without a bonus point could even see them miss out on top position.

If STC are to go through:

A win without conceding a losing bonus point, and we could even see the Thomians topping their group!

If TCK are to go through:

They will require a win or even a Bonus point win and hope Isipathana do them a favour against STC!

If DS to go through:

The Dons require a bonus point win and pray that Isipathana are able to dismantle STC on the final day!

Group 2A

It doesn’t get easier than this!

SPC are all but through as group leaders unless otherwise a miracle takes place at Nittawela with Vidyartha toppling the top dogs in the Dialog Schools’ Rugby League 2024.

Royal will have to settle for 2nd place as last week’s defeat didn’t do their chances of lifting the league any good.

The battle in group 2A is for places 3 and 4 with Wesley, Vidyartha and St. Joseph’s all lining up with one fixture left.

Wesley and St. Joseph’s know that nothing but a win will help their cause and the winner pretty much takes 3rd place, given the fact that SPC defeat the Tigers up at Nittawela.

Fixtures for Week 8

Some mouth-watering fixtures await us with Isipathana taking on STC, Vidyartha hosting SPC and SJC playing Wesley.

All, STC, TCK & DS have the chance to book a spot in the second round.

Both DS and TCK will be hoping to end the season with a win and if their fortunes couple with an Isipathana win, we could even see one of DS or TCK  booking their spot in the super round at the expense of STC.
