Trinity College come into the 2nd Leg of the Bradby Shield Rugby encounter with a single point lead and a golden opportunity to end a decade of pain.
The victorious Trinity College out-fit from the 1st Leg will be raring to go in their own den this time around as they take on a wounded Royal College team, a side that hasn’t tasted defeat in the past 10-years of the coveted Bradby Shield Encounter.
Trinity College
Playing at home will no doubt have a challenge and the Lions will be undoubtedly upto the task this Saturday, 7th September 2024.
The home team will no doubt rely on Shan Althaf as the playmaker always come up trumps in the big games.
Trinity did not look depleted without skipper for the season Anuhash Kodithhuwakku as his chargers gave 110% to make up for the loss of the Center.
Stand-in skipper and Eighth-man Thisanga Dissanayake lead his troophs around the paddock at Reid Avenue and he will no doubt be looked up to going into this crucial clash!
Royal College
The Royalist will be bitterly disappointed as their tactic to no go for points didn’t pay dividends in Colombo.
The Royal coaching staff and players will be under pressure to bring out their A-game and there will be no more bigger stage for them to do it, away at the Lion’s den!
Idris Farook brought about his kicking boots in Colombo to control the game to some extent, but this weekend, his skills will no doubt put to the test in swirling conditions at Pallekale.
The Royal pack will need stand up tall this time around, as none of their lethal weapons came off in the 1st Leg.
Thineth Gamage along with their mammoth Locks Yehan and Buwaneka will be looked up to for inspiration by their less experienced team mates.
Conclusion
Royal were caught out in Colombo and a shock defeat did not help their cause as they aim to retain the shield for a 11th year!
The hosts are with a golden chance to cease the opportunity and if they do so, Trinity might just win the Bradby Shield for the 1st time since 2014.
