Royal College dominated and eased past Maliyadeva College in the Under 16 encounter, winning the game 34-00 at the Royal Complex.
The Royal youngsters who had an impressive showing during last years’ Schools Rugby season no doubt came into this clash hoping to build on their previous year’s success. They started off strong, getting a try and a goal early in the game.
The Maliyadeva youngsters struggled to break the Royal defense, but the Royalists had no such problems as they broke through the Maliyadeva defense yet again for their third try to end the first half with a dominant 17-00 lead.
The junior Royalists continued their domination in the second half, scoring their first try of the half, early on. It only got worse for the Maliyadeva youngsters who despite playing their hearts out, failed to penetrate the Royal try line as the Royalists added another goal to their tally.
The Royal juniors managed to break through and add one final try before the referee blew for full time.
