Royal College managed to stand their ground during day two of the match between St. Sebastians at Reid Avenue which ended in a draw today.
The first day saw the visitors post a formidable 231 runs with Anushka Perera top scoring with an unbeaten 116 runs. It was a solid innings from the one drop Sebastian batsman who achieved this feat in 204 balls which was inclusive of 14 hits to the boundary and one six.
In the bowling department for the Royalist Hashen Ramanayake was the stand out performer capturing 3 crucial wickets for 23 runs.
The home batting in their first innings were 23 runs for the loss of 1 wicket at the end of the first days play.
Royal College resuming from their overnight score of 23 runs for 1 wickets managed to put up 253 runs all out in 100.4 over’s. Wicket keeper batsman Milan Abeysekera was the highest scorer for the home team accumulating 74 runs in his stay at the wicket. The left handed middle order batsman played an extremely controlled innings to put the Royalist’s past the St. Sebastian’s first innings score.
Sampath De Silva and skipper Devind Padmanathan also contributed with scores of 47 and 22 runs. De Silva fell short of a well deserved half century but contributed enough to give the advantage to the Royalist’s.
