Trinity College, Kandy vs Thurstan College, Colombo
Trinity College and Thurstan College, two strong outfits in school cricket, met each other today in a Group A fixture which commenced at Thurstan grounds. Trinity skipper won the toss and decided to bat first but could not post a formidable score on the board as they were bowled out for 187 runs. Thurstan left arm spinner Ayesh Harshana was the pick of the bowlers as he grabbed 4 wickets for 37 runs. In reply, Thurstan College was 140 runs for 3 wickets at stumps on day one.

Group C fixture between St. Peter’s College and Dharmaraja College commenced today at St. Peter’s grounds. Visiting skipper won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. St. Peter’s batsmen managed to post a solid first innings score with 308 runs on the board.
Right handed Shalith Fernando top scored for the hosts with 75 runs while Sulakshan Fernando (57) and Prabashwara Herath contributed with half-tons. In reply, the Rajans were 28 for 2 at stumps on day one.

D.S. Senanayake College dominated day one of the Group A fixture against St. Benedict’s College, which commenced today at Army grounds. After winning the toss, DS skipper put Benedicts’ into bat first and the decision paid off as they were bundled out for a mere 67 runs. Muditha Lakshan, Sachintha Hettige and Pasindu Adithya picked up 3 wickets each for D.S. Senanayake College.
DS batsmen replied with a strong batting performance for their first innings as they finished day one at 293 runs for 9 wickets. Right handed batsman, Muditha Lakshan impressed with his all-round skills, scoring a classy ton. Off spinner Mahesh Theekshana starred with the ball for Benedicts with a 5 wicket haul.

One of the strong contenders in U-19 Division 1, Richmond College took on Gurukula College in a Group C fixture today at Galle International Cricket Stadium. Gurukula skipper won the toss and batted first on a batting friendly Galle surface. The visitors managed to put 226 runs on the board for their first innings.
Malindu Viduranga fought hard with the bat for the visitors with 97 runs not out, while Praveen Nimesh chipped in with a valuable 72 runs. In reply, Richmond College lost two quick wickets and finished the day at 54 for 2.

Skipper of St. Mary’s College won the toss and decided to take the first lease of the wicket but didn’t impress with the bat as they were bowled out for 121 runs. Left arm spinner Kavika Dilshan was the pick of the bowlers for the lads from Galle with 4 wickets for 12 runs.
In reply, St. Aloysius batsmen also struggled with the bat as they finished day one with 125 runs for 7 wickets for their first innings. Right handed stroke maker Niluksha Dulmina remained unbeaten on 65 runs for lads from Galle.
