A road accident the Sri Lankan boxing contingent faced hampered their medal prospects at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
The vehicle carrying some of the Sri Lankan contingent’s strongest contenders, Manju Wanniarachchi, Anuruddha Rathnayake, and Anusha Kodituwakku, as well as their Cuban coach, met with an accident and this unforeseen incident shocked the Lankans days before their departure to Glasgow, the venue of this year’s Games.
Kodituwakku has fractured her arm thus shedding all her hopes to take part in the mega sporting event while Wanniarachchi has to delay his departure to Glasgow for a couple of days due to the injuries he has received in the said accident.
Rathnayake has not received any injuries though the Cuban coach was yet to be released from hospital even by Thursday.
