Rifaz Maurooz bowled a breath taking spell picking 7 for 34 while left arm spinner Kaveesh Madurapperuma managed a 5-for as President’s College and Nalanda College recorded first innings wins over Anuradhapura Central College and Isipathana College respectively.
Anuradhapura Central v Presidents College
Winning the toss and bowling first proved the correct decision as Rifaz Maurooz bowled a mesmerizing spell to dazzle and dismiss Anuradhapura Central for just 125 of 31 overs. Lahiru Liyanage was the single batsman to shine for the lads from Anuradhapura as he managed a valuable 28.
Ganidu Dewmina’s 50 along with Hashan Priyadarshana’s 47 steered the Presidents’ College to a 100 run lead over Anuradhapura Central. Ravintha Prabhashwara (4/38) and Maduranhga Chandrarathna (4/42) managed 8 wickets between them to restrict Presidents College.
Batting in their second innings, Anuradhapura Central were 4 for no loss at stumps on day 1.

Isipathana v Nalanda
Nalanda College, spearheaded with the ball by Kaveesh Madurapperuma managed to dismiss a rather sloppy Isipathana batting line up for just 135 in 36.1 overs. Left arm Spinner Kaveesh Madurapperuma spun the Pathana batsman out as he managed 5 wickets for just 10 runs.
Umeshka Dilshan (2/16) and Kalana Perera (2/41) managed four wickets between them to put the icing on the cake for Nalanda.
Kalana Perera made 47 off 48 balls for Isipathana as Manisha Rupasingha contributed with 44.
Skipper Dasun Senevirathne made 35 valuable runs as he led Nalanda past Pathana’s first innings score as Nalanda ended day one on 146 for 9 in 46 overs.

A hard fought innings of 48 by Dananjaya Perera and Anjana Rukmal’s valiant support with 43 led Joseph Vaz to 172 after being put into bat by Maris Stella. Lasith Crusepulle bagged 3/28 while Sachindu Colamabage (2/14) and Sanka Poorna (2/16) picked four wickets between them to restrict St. Joseph Vaz.
In reply Maris Stella was led by Lasith Crusepulle with 67 while Ashan Fernando’s 25 helped them to 141 for 6 at stumps on day one.
