Richmond College beat Mahinda College by 28 runs in their 35th Annual Limited Overs Encounter, played today at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
After winnings the toss, Richmond College Skipper Tharinda Nirmal decided to bat first. The Richmond opening pair Chehan Subasinghe and Bhanuka Manohara got them off to a solid start, putting on 51-run stand for the first wicket.
The Skipper Nirmal also joined the party, building another crucial 42-run partnership with Manohara for the second wicket. However, the Mahinda bowlers managed to put the breaks on the Richmond batting lineup thereafter, taking 8 wickets for 125 runs.

After being on a strong position at 93/1, the Richmondites were restricted to 218/9 in the allotted 50 overs. Shehan Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers for Mahinda College as he grabbed 3 wickets for 46 runs.
In reply, Mahinda College also got off to a solid start, thanks to their opening pair Hareen Achintha and Pramesh Madhubhashana, who put on a 43-run stand for the first wicket.

However, the Richmond bowlers managed to peg things back, taking wickets at regular intervals and restricting the opposition to 190, clinching a 28-run win at the end.
Seneth Sisan was the hero with the ball for the Richmondites as he picked up 5 scalps for 30 runs.
